The Government of India has reportedly banned as many as 16 Pakistani YouTube channels in India for spreading communally sensitive content and misinformation against India. The decision has been taken after recommendations from the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India, reported ANI. These banned channels include Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, Geo News, and more. The total subscriber base for these channels is over 63 million.
It is being said that these channels were spreading provocative and communally sensitive content, as well as false and misleading narratives against India, its Army, and security agencies, particularly after the tragic terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
There is no word on the duration and timeline of this ban. However, the move comes days after the terrorist attack at Baisaran Valley in Jammu and Kashmir where several Indian tourists were killed after armed gunmen opened fire at them.
