VERDICT:

The Vivo T4x 5G is a performance-packed smartphone under Rs 15,000. During our testing, we experienced no heating issues, great battery life, and decent cameras. While the UI could be improved and the display protection is lacking, it offers a great overall package for the price.

Vivo T4x 5G Review: Have you ever thought about how many good phones are there in the mid-range and premium segment? But getting a good phone under Rs 15,000 is always a challenge because you will always have to compromise on one thing or the other. That’s why today, we have the Vivo T4x 5G with us, and it seems like an interesting phone if you are looking for one under this budget

Now, Vivo smartphones are majorly about cameras and displays, but the T4x 5G is an exceptional case just like its predecessor. The USP of this Vivo smartphone is neither the camera nor the display, but performance. However, within this budget, what level of performance can you expect? Let’s find out in our Vivo T4x 5G review!

Vivo T4x 5G Design: Good News and Bad News

We have the Vivo T4x 5G in Marine Blue colour, which has a glittery effect on the back. Now liking this back panel can be a very subjective opinion because some of you might not like it. But if you ask me, the pattern looks really good.

You can also find a ring light on the back which goes by the name of Dynamic Light in the phone’s Settings. But note that this is not a flashlight, it is only there for notifications, alerts, calls and charging indications.

Now, about its durability, there is good news and bad news for you. The good news is that the Vivo T4x 5G comes with an IP64 rating against dust and water, which is not usual on budget smartphones. What’s bad is that there is no strong protection on the display. So, if your phone drops, you better have your expenses ready for the repair.

Decent display for the price

Coming to its display now, the T4x 5G features a 6.72-inch IPS LCD panel, which comes with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. The first thing that you will notice on its display is that the colours of this panel are quite punchy, which we don’t get on IPS LCD panels usually.

Along with that, the brightness of this display is also convincing, as we recorded around 900 nits of peak brightness during our testing. This means that even if you use the phone under direct sunlight, the price is respectable.

Yes, one thing that I feel could have been better is the dynamic range. The contrast in the visuals is expected less than what we expect on OLED displays, which also makes images appear less sharp.

Vivo T4x 5G Performance: Don’t miss this part!

Performance is the most interesting part about the Vivo T4x 5G, and yes I am saying this positively. We have tested the Vivo T4x 5G through several benchmarks and stress tests, so let’s talk numbers first.

In AnTuTu, the Vivo T4x 5G scored higher not only from its true competitors but also from the phones that are pricier such as Poco M6 Plus, CMF Phone 1, and OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G.

AnTuTu scores of Vivo T4x 5G

Even in Geekbench, the Vivo T4x 5G performed really well as you can see it gave a really good fight to the other phones under Rs 20,000.

After testing the power of this phone, it was about time we tested how stable this phone is and how is its thermal management. And guess what? After running a stress test for 20 minutes, the Vivo T4x 5G did not throttle even a single per cent. This means the thermal management and the optimisation of the processor on this phone is promising.

All these numbers were very impressive to me, but again these are just numbers. How’s the real-world usage? This is where things go south.

The performance of this phone is decent, be it heavy gaming or everyday tasks but the UI is one missing piece from the puzzle. The Vivo T4x 5G runs on FuntouchOS 15, which feels nice but doesn’t look nice. It looks very cluttered and all the credit goes to pre-installed apps.

A mediocre camera

The Vivo T4x 5G has a dual camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, you are getting an 8-megapixel front camera on it.

The 50MP main camera captures vibrant pictures, they are bright and colourful. Now I like colourful pictures, while some people don’t, and again this can be also subjective. The camera on the Vivo T4x 5g also captures details just fine. They are not too good or too bad and under good lighting conditions, you can capture decent photos with this phone.

However, when it comes to portraits, they seem pretty contrasty. It misses out on details when it comes to the black areas, as you can see in these pictures. Edge detection could have been better too.

But if we talk about low-light photography, this phone impressed me a lot. Some of these shots I have taken in complete darkness and as you can see how decently it has managed the image processing. Moreover, the light management also seems decent. So cut short, low-light photography on the T4x 5G is highly convincing for a budget phone.

Now if we flip the phone to the front camera, the 8-megapixel selfie shooter also does the job. It captures sharp pictures and the colours are also nice.

There is no ultrawide lens, but again don’t forget it’s a sub-Rs 15,000 phone, so we can’t really complain here.

Battery is the cherry on the cake

This is a performance-packed phone, not only because of its processor stability but also because of the battery backup it offers. The Vivo T4x 5G is equipped with a massive 6500mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. And one thing I can tell you, on 100% battery, this phone can last for up to 2 days easily.

15 minutes of heavy gaming and 30 minutes of watching high-quality videos consumed only 4% battery. Moreover, Google Maps consumes a lot of juice, but an hour of Google Maps only consumed 3% of this phone’s battery while I was testing it.

But with long-lasting battery backup, it takes a lot of time to charge too. The Vivo T4x 5G charges from 0-100% in 1 hour 38 minutes.

So, how is the Vivo T4x 5G?

Now if you remember I said the T4x 5G is an exceptional case because after testing it and using it for a couple of days, I feel that this one is a performance-packed smartphone under Rs 15,000. It has no heating issues, it even scored well in our testing, it runs high graphics on BGMI, and the battery of this phone is also pretty good!

Apart from that, the camera is also not that bad, I would say it’s decent for the price you are paying. And the same goes for the display also. I don’t see too many options offering performance, a massive battery backup, decent cameras, and a great display for just Rs 12,999. So, you are getting a great overall package. Yes, what leaves room for improvement is its UI, which has so many pre-installed apps, and the display protection could have been better too.
