Oppo F31 Pro+ review: The mid-range smartphone segment in India is more competitive than ever, with brands racing to offer the best combination of performance, camera capabilities, and flashy features. Oppo’s F31 Pro+ takes a slightly different route. Priced from Rs 32,999, it focuses less on chasing benchmark supremacy and more on delivering reliability and durability for daily use.
After around two weeks of daily use and testing, I’m here to break down the Oppo F31 Pro+’s design, display, performance, cameras, and battery to see how well it handles real-life demands and whether it’s worth your attention.
Oppo F31 Pro+ review: Design and build

First, let’s talk about the design. The Oppo F31 Pro+ 5G comes in three colour options, and I got the Gemstone Blue variant. The top half has a deep blue finish, while the bottom half shifts colour depending on how light hits it, revealing hints of bluish-purple. The effect isn’t just on the back panel; even the circular camera module catches the light and creates a subtle glowing ring around its edges.
While the back panel has a matte finish, it attracts fingerprints. So, unless you use the bundled black case (which sadly hides the beautiful finish), you’ll be wiping it down quite often. The phone also feels a bit wider, likely because of its boxy design, which makes one-handed use slightly less convenient.

When it comes to durability, Oppo has gone all out. The F31 Pro+ features a Multi-Layer Airbag Cushioning system, which Oppo claims protects key components like the camera, speakers, battery, and vibration motor. It’s MIL-STD-810H-2022 certified, meaning it has been tested to withstand extreme temperatures, humidity, rain, dust, vibration, and even salt mist. Add to that the IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, and this phone is protected against dust, high temperatures, and strong water jets.
Oppo also claims it can survive contact with 18 different types of liquids, including coffee, milk, fruit juice and beer. I tested this claim by submerging the phone in a pool and even burying it in Jaisalmer’s sand dunes, and I must say, it survived everything without a scratch.
In short, the Oppo F31 Pro+ 5G is not just good-looking but also very tough. It can handle water, dust, and accidental drops without any trouble.
Oppo F31 Pro+ review: Display
Let’s talk about the display now. The Oppo F31 Pro+ comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel offering FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a claimed peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. The screen also comes with AGC DT-Star D+ protection. In everyday use, the screen looks sharp and vibrant, making it perfect for binge-watching, scrolling through reels, or even casual gaming.

I tested the display using Calman and the SpectraCal C6 Colourimeter, and it recorded an average Delta E of 2.2, which means the colours look good and vibrant when watching content online. Also, the phone is well-equipped to display a wide range of colours, with gamut coverage of 99.2% in the sRGB colour space. During a lux meter test, it reached a peak brightness of 1,630 nits, which is slightly brighter than Oppo’s claims, so you can be assured that you won’t need to shade the screen when outdoors.

So, the Oppo F31 Pro+ delivers an great display experience. Whether you’re watching YouTube videos or streaming your favourite series, you’ll get smooth, vibrant and immersive visuals every time.
Oppo F31 Pro+ review: Performance
This is where the Oppo F31 Pro+ shows a bit of weakness. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which seems powerful on paper but doesn’t quite match up to some of its competitors in this price range. On AnTuTu, it scored 8,90,102, while phones like the OnePlus Nord 5 (Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset) and Realme 15 Pro (Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset) crossed the one-million mark. In Geekbench, it achieved 742 in the single-core test and 2,464 in the multi-core test, which are again behind the competition.

That said, real-world performance is smooth. The F31 Pro+ handles daily tasks like app switching, video calls, messaging, and browsing with ease and without any noticeable lag.
When it comes to gaming, BGMI runs well, maintaining solid frame stability at up to 60 FPS. However, at this price point, support for 90 FPS would have made the experience even better.

So, while it may not be the fastest phone in the Rs 30K- Rs 35K range, it’s certainly among the most consistent. If you’re a casual or moderate gamer, you’ll likely value its stable and reliable performance over raw benchmark numbers.
Oppo F31 Pro+ review: Camera
Now, let’s come to the cameras. The Oppo F31 Pro+ comes with a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS support and a 2MP monochrome lens. On the front, there’s a 32MP punch-hole camera for selfies and video calls. The camera system offers multiple modes such as underwater photography, time-lapse, slow-motion, and 4K video recording at 30fps.

In bright daylight, the 50MP main camera delivers sharp, detailed photos with vibrant colours. The images strike a nice balance between highlights and shadows, resulting in well-exposed shots that look natural.

Portrait photography is decent overall, with accurate colours and good subject detail. However, edge detection can sometimes be inconsistent. It works well with objects but can occasionally struggle with human subjects. So, it is a hit or a miss.

Low-light performance is fairly average. In low-lit environments, photos come out clear with decent detail. But in very dim settings, the F31 Pro+ starts to show its limitations, with images losing sharpness and struggling to maintain clarity.
Oppo F31 Pro+ review: Battery
The Oppo F31 Pro+ 5G really shines when it comes to battery performance. Its massive 7,000 mAh battery promises long hours of usage and is perfect for anyone who hates charging their phone every day. That said, in the PCMark test, it lasted 15 hours and 27 minutes, which is a little underwhelming for such a big battery. This could be due to poor optimisation, something Oppo could improve with an update.

What impressed me was the real-world performance. With casual use (like messaging, browsing, checking emails, and streaming a few videos), the phone easily lasted more than a day and a half, and sometimes close to two full days on a single charge.
The bundled 80W charger topped the phone up from 0 to 100% in just 1 hour and 21 minutes, which is quite fast for a battery this large. The phone also performed well in specific tests, dropping only 5% after 30 minutes of video streaming and just 4% after an hour of Google Maps navigation.
Oppo has even included reverse charging, so you can power up other devices. Overall, even though the benchmark scores weren’t the highest, the Oppo F31 Pro+ delivers dependable battery life that won’t let you down.
Verdict
The Oppo F31 Pro+ 5G is designed for users who want a phone that combines style, durability, and long battery life. Its dual-tone design looks striking, and it can easily handle everyday bumps, spills, and accidental drops. The massive 7,000 mAh battery lasts close to two days. The AMOLED display is bright, vibrant, and perfect for streaming or daily use.
It’s not the fastest performer in its price range, and the cameras could do better in low light, but if your priority is durability, long battery life, and a great viewing experience, the Oppo F31 Pro+ is worth considering.
