Xiaomi TV S Mini LED price and availability (expected)

Xiaomi has not announced pricing yet. But its current top-of-the-range 75-inch QLED TV is priced at Rs 69,999. And QD Mini LED being the superior technology, we can expect the new series to come at a premium.

The TV’s listing is available on Amazon, and so, we know it will be retailing through there, Xiaomi’s own website and offline stores. We will have more details soon.

Here, the key differentiator could be Xiaomi’s software experience and ecosystem integration, rather than just panel hardware.

Xiaomi TV S Mini LED specifications and features (expected)

Xiaomi says the TV S Mini LED series will focus on improving picture quality through a combination of Mini LED backlighting and its ‘Quantum MagiQ’ colour tuning.

For the unversed, Mini LED means the TV’s backlighting will include thousands of smaller LEDs, allowing several dimming zones for deeper blacks, improved contrast and sharper details than standard QLED panels. Meanwhile, the quantum dot colour means better colour volume and brightness.

Now, based on the global variant, here are the expected specifications of the 55-inch model of the TV S Mini LED:

  • Display: It could have 4K resolution with up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, 94% DCI-P3 colour gamut, Filmmaker mode, and support for HDR formats like HDR10+ and HLG. It may feature a 60Hz refresh rate only, which means the focus could still be on content consumption rather than gaming.
  • Audio: The TV could sport 2 x 15W stereo speakers with likely support for Dolby Audio and DTS virtual processing.
  • Performance and software: Under the hood, the TV could carry a quad-core Cortex-A55 processor, Mali-G52 GPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and Google TV platform with built-in Google Assistant. As a Xiaomi TV, we can also expect PatchWall UI.
  • Connectivity: The ports on the back of the TV could include 3 HDMI ports, including 1 HDMI 2.1 with eARC and ALLM, and 2 USB ports. Wireless options could include Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast.

Xiaomi TVs would work well with an ecosystem of other devices for a connected home setup.

Should you wait for Xiaomi TV S Mini LED series?

If you are planning a mid-premium TV purchase, you may wait for the Xiaomi TV for its combination of 4K Mini LED, quantum dot colour, and Google TV. But if you are a serious gamer, then TVs with 120Hz panels may still offer better value.

Tomorrow, we will know more about TV S Mini LED’s complete specs and pricing. Since it is Xiaomi, we hope to see it using Mini LED to bridge the gap between QLED and OLED, while keeping prices relatively accessible.
