Vivo launches X23 with ‘Waterdrop’ notch, in-display fingerprint sensor launched in China

Just after Vivo announced the Vivo V11 Pro smartphone in India, the company unveiled the Vivo X23 device in China. The successor to the Vivo X21, the X23 comes with a ‘Waterdrop’ notch and fourth generation in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone will be available at a price point of 3,498 Yuan (approx Rs 36,700) from September 14 in China. There is a special Vivo Logo Phone variant that will be available in October.

Vivo X23 specifications

The Vivo X23 comes with a 3D glass back which the company claims is manufactured by engraving several silk ridges on a diaphragm. The size of the metallic frame is 2.6mm as compared to its predecessor which had a 3.2mm thin frame. The phone is offered in gradient Phantom Purple, Phantom Red and Magic Night colours. There are two other gradient models Fashion Purple and Fashion Orange which have huge Vivo branding that runs from lower left corner to upper right edge covering the entire back panel.

The Vivo X23 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. The ‘Waterdrop’ notch, which melts on the right and left edges, provides an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. There is a fourth generation in-display fingerprint scanner with an improved biometric recognition technology which is claimed to unlock the phone in 0.35 seconds. The Vivo X23 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor and is assisted by an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS with FunTouch OS 4.1 skin on top and ships with Jovi AI assistant. It houses a 3,400mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.

The Vivo X23 has a vertically aligned dual-camera setup with primary lens featuring a 12MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor and f/1.8 aperture. The secondary shooter has a 13MP wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture and 125 degrees field of view. The front snapper has a 12MP lens with a f/2.0 aperture and performs facial scanning duties. For face ID to work in the dark, the X23 is equipped with an infrared lens. In the audio department, the Vivo X23 is equipped with AK4377A audio chip.
