One UI 8.5 release for older Galaxy devices may get delayed, here is why

Samsung’s expected One UI 8.5 update has faced fresh uncertainty as new reports suggest that the rollout may not happen on the previously expected timeline. The update was widely believed to arrive around April 30, but that date has already passed without any release. Recent user reports and Samsung support replies suggest that even the expected May 4 release date might be delayed again. This has caused confusion because different Samsung sources are giving mixed messages. Some users were told there is no fixed timeline yet, while others mentioned internal delays and possible changes to which devices will get the update and when. After months of beta testing and limited updates, many Galaxy users are still waiting longer than they expected.

According to posts shared by community trackers, Samsung may have already missed its internal April 30 target in South Korea. Some reports also suggest that the early May 4 window could slip as well. One possible reason is the timing of national holidays, including Labour Day on May 1 and Children’s Day on May 5, which may have affected scheduling decisions. Because of this, some observers now expect May 6 as a more realistic release date, although Samsung has not confirmed anything publicly. The lack of a clear announcement has only increased speculation among Galaxy users waiting for the update.

Confusion has grown because different Samsung sources are giving different signals. A community moderator had earlier suggested an April 30 release, while Samsung support later said there is no official schedule yet. This mismatch has led many users to question how reliable the information is. At the same time, the beta programme has already run for about five months, which is longer than many expected. Some issues, including a reported WebView problem affecting Microsoft apps, are believed to have slowed progress further. Many users say the long wait is frustrating, especially since they expected a more stable update by now.

Looking ahead, some guidance suggests that Galaxy S24 series users may receive the update shortly after the Galaxy S25 rollout, though this has not been officially confirmed. Other than that, the S24 FE beta is also showing some of its AI features. As it gives a small preview of what the users can expect with the update in the near future. However, users are asking Samsung to clearly announce a release date, as excitement and expectations are increasing.
