As if the discovery of the nexgen version of the world’s hottest gadget on a bar-stool wasn’t enough, another prototype of iPhone 4G has now surfaced in Vietnam. While the edges are now straight and don’t have the slippery taper, Apple, with its vaunted product security, is having a hard time holding on to this new iPhone!

A large gallery of new photos of the device was recently published on a Vietnamese forum Taoviet.vn. The case of this iPhone is even more curious. While the incidence of a phone lost by a drunk programmer in a bar is plausible, the claim of the Vietnamese businessman who says he bought it in the US along with an iPad seems genuinely absurd. While no further details were revealed by the above-mentioned businessman, but we can safely assume that Apple Store definitely didn’t sell it to him!

The pictures are definitely of a different unit than the one that was in possession of Tech-blog Gizmodo, as is indicated by the notation “16GB” instead of the “XXGB” on the prototype that Gizmodo laid its hands on. It looks like a pre-production iPhone 4G unit, since a pair of screws at the bottom of the device have been removed, the back panel of the iPhone 4G unit contains XXX for the model number and FCC ID number. The gadget has been torn down by the ‘owner’ of the device to reveal the Apple A4 processor and the ‘N90’ moniker, which is thought to be the internal codename of the device. The screen shows some sort of Diagnostics called “Bonfire!” with word Inferno on the upper half and battery percentage on the bottom left corner.

This second leak in space of two months has had people raising their brows at a possible ad-stunt by Apple. But that would be like suggesting that Microsoft has gone the Open-source way! Because Apple has been traditionally super-secretive about its products, a strategy that leads to media coverage worth millions when Steve Jobs does decide to descend. But we can’t say for sure that media coverage would be lesser at the official launch of iPhone 4g, with anticipation bubbling like hot lava under the fragile skepticism.

Although the low build quality of the prototypes that have emerged is very un-Applish. But then again, these are not the finished products. While these leaks are definitely killing the surprise, the new prototype is refreshingly different from the earlier iPhone.

And as for the Vietnamese site, its homepage now displays a message in Vietnamese that translates roughly as, “Website is being maintained. Please visit again in a moment. Thanks.”

Hi guys, this is the Iphone 4G in my hand, from Mr. XXX. It seem small but I feel pretty long and a little bit narrow when holding it in my hand. The machine is strong and solid with both sides made of glass (0:36, knock! knock! knock!). The camera comes with flash and the machine is 16GB as indicated and the code at the back with numbers of X characters (0:46). There is another camera next to the speaker at the front side and the home button. once again you can see it’s a bit longer but narrower. On the left side you can see the on/off sound and the separate up/down volume buttons in round shape (1:16). On the right side is the SIM tray and at the bottom are the speakers but not sure of stereo/mono type. I dont see any sight of how to open and may need to force for open up (1:45). The screen is disabled and I think Apple giving this phone to some one together with a CODE and from time to time he has to enter. that Code otherwise the phone will auto disable, not to be disabled remotely by Apple(2:00). Comparing with the current version, the phone is narrower approx 4mm, the length is little longer, the machine is thinner and screen is similar. It looks manly but the sharp edges may hurt your fingers (2:39). This is the SIM tray using miniSIM card. The back is so solid and the new Iphone feels stronger and more modern than the current one. OK thank you….!
