Samsung claims over 10 million Galaxy S4 phones sold in first month

Samsung's newest flagship smartphone crossed 10 million sales in half the time as the Galaxy S3.

We all knew that the Samsung Galaxy S4 would rack up huge sales but today, ‘huge’ turned out to be an understatement. Samsung has claimed that already 10 million Galaxy S4 have been sold by its retail channel partners within the first month of the phone’s launch. According to a Samsung spokesperson, the Galaxy S4 crossed the 10 million mark on May 22, 27 days after it was launched on April 26. In comparison, the Galaxy S3 took 50 days to cross the 10 million mark.

The Galaxy S4 is now available in more than 100 countries globally with that number set to reach 155 in the near future. Thanks to its successful Galaxy lineup of Android smartphones, Samsung now holds a 30.8 percent share of the global smartphone market while iPhone maker Apple follows with 18.2 percent. With the massive sales that the Galaxy S4 seems to be generating, Samsung’s market share should only rise from now on.

The India-variant of the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be powered by the Exynos 5 Octa chipset. This particular chipset has four Cortex-A15 cores clocking up to a maximum of 1.6GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores clocking up to 1.2GHz. The PowerVR SGX 544MP3 chip handles the graphics. The S4 has a 5-inch full HD display giving it a pixel density of 441 ppi. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean skinned with the Samsung TouchWiz UI.The rear of the smartphone has a 13MP camera and the front has a 2MP camera. Just like its predecessor, the Galaxy S4 brings with it a slew of features such as S Translator, Smart Pause, S Voice Drive, S Health, Air Gesture, Dual Shot and more.
