Samsung has been reportedly working on some new camera sensors for its upcoming devices. The South-Korean company is in the process of developing four camera sensors, and one of them is a huge 440-megapixel HU1 sensor. Samsung has announced its first 200-megapixel sensor in this year’s flagship model, the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Now will the company come out with something different next year ? Well this information has not been announced officially yet, but as always there are rumours. However, the 440-megapixel HU1 sensor might or might not be intended for smartphones.

A tipster known as Revegnus has shared these details on X (Twitter). He added that Samsung is working on four camera sensors that are a 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN6, a 320-megapixel unnamed sensor, a 200-megapixel HP7 sensor, and a 440-megapixel HU1 sensor. Here are the specifications of these sensors.

The tipster didn’t reveal much about the 440-megapixel HU1 sensor but suggested that it might not be for smartphones. Interestingly, in the past, Samsung said they were working on a camera like what a human eye sees, with very high quality. This 440-megapixel part could be related to that idea.

Revegnus also added a new camera sensor with 320-megapixels. This big sensor could be featured in Samsung’s smartphones in future. Also, Mediatek Dimensity 9200 chip can work with cameras like this, so it's possible this camera part could be used in that kind of smartphone.

Next up, there was a plan to use a 200-megapixels HP7 sensor with 0.7 microns in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. But the sensor would be costly, so the plan was dropped. If compared, then this sensor comes with larger pixels than the one in Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
