With the Apple iPhone 15 launch and the introduction of “new features”, the internet hasn’t let a day pass where rumours and trolls about the new iPhone 15 series have come up. From the problematic titanium chassis to the USB Type-C port, netizens are surely giving Apple’s PR team a nightmare.

A recent report by a Chinese outlet has created nothing sort of chaos. They claimed that if you use any cable other than the Apple one, then you could end up damaging your phone. Imagine buying such an expensive phone, you would want to keep it protected at all costs. And that’s what led to the panic.

Not only this, even many third-party resellers in China echoed the same tune. They asked their customers to only use an Apple cable and not to use any Android cable to charge their iPhones. And the claims were not made without giving a reason. The resellers told their customers that both the cables (Apple and Android)  have different numbers of pins on one side. And this could possibly lead to damage. Plus, thanks to social media, the trumpet was blown out of proportion.

But, this was nothing but another rumour. I hope it didn’t come as a shocker. Apple Insider even went ahead to publish a report which refuted these claims. They said that the standard USB-C cables can have 24 pins in total, out of which 12 could be located on the side of the internal tongue within the port, encircling the interior of the cable end to facilitate bidirectional connection.

Even Apple claims that you can charge your iPhone 15 models with any USB Type-C. However, it needs to have a Power Adapter and USB Power Delivery support.
