OnePlus has rolled out an update to the OnePlus 7 Pro bringing the May Android security patch and some display and camera related optimisations to the devices. The latest Oxygen OS 9.5.8 update builds on previous updates that also resolved some screen issues. Further, it brings optimisations in compatibility for third-party Type-C headphones. Let's break down all changelog of the update.

To start with, Oxygen OS 9.5.8 optimises the touch sensitivity of the screen. This is the second major update that brings improvement to the screen of the phone since “phantom” or “ghost” touch problem came to the fore last month. A “phantom” or “ghost” touch is a response of a display that is given even if the screen is not tapped. The display is one of the USPs of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Its a 6.67-inch fluid AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate.

The changelog of the Oxygen OS 9.5.8 update also mentions optimisations in the compatibility for third-party Type-C headphones, as well as improvement in the audio quality during a phone call. Just like previous updates, the phone gets brings improvements in the camera. The company has now fixed the issue with the pop up camera. A bug would open the camera for an incoming video call even when the screen was off or the device was locked.

Previously, OnePlus used to include all camera-related improvements under one “Camera optimisations” heading. Since the launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro, the company has been detailing exactly what optimisations are being done to the phone’s camera. Previous updates brought improvements in the overall contrast and colours in images, as well as the accuracy and stability of the autofocus feature.
