After unveiling the Nokia 2 budget smartphone last month, HDM Global has launched the device in India. The Nokia 2 is priced at Rs 6,999 in India and will be available in offline retail stores starting November 24. The smartphone is available in three colour variants, namely Pewter/Black, Pewter/White and Copper/Black.
Reliance Jio customers can enjoy additional 45GB of 4G data on the purchase of the Nokia 2. Jio subscribers will get 5GB of additional 4G data on every recharge of Rs 309 or above, limited to nine recharges.
In addition, Nokia 2 buyers will also be eligible for a complimentary 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify. However, in order to do so, buyers will have to open a Kotak 811 savings account and activate it with an initial deposit of Rs 1,000 in the introductory period.
Ajey Mehta, Vice President and Country Head - India, HMD Global, stated, “Nokia 2 is a smartphone that is built keeping the Indian consumer in mind. It is a smartphone people can rely on without subconsciously rationing their battery usage. Every component of the Nokia 2 – from the display to battery, chipset to system design – has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery. This gives fans a long-lasting phone they can rely on. In addition, a great display and pure, secure Android means you don't have to do less with your Nokia 2 to preserve longevity, it has been built to give you the freedom to do more.”
The Nokia 2 sports a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC with 1GB of RAM. At the back of the device is an 8MP primary camera, while at the front is a 5MP unit. The phone also offers 8GB of onboard storage.
The highlight of the phone is its battery life and the promise of regular Android updates. The Nokia 2 is equipped with a 4100mAh battery and the company claims that the device can offer a battery life of two days. The phone comes with stock Android Nougat with the promise of an update to Oreo. The Nokia 2 is also stated to get two monthly security updates.
