No Motorola Edge 60 Ultra this year? Tipster hints at Edge 70 Ultra launch in 2026

After the Motorola Edge 60 was introduced in India, new rumours indicate that Motorola could skip releasing its much-anticipated flagship, the Edge 60 Ultra. The device, which was expected to debut as the successor to the Edge 50 Ultra with improvements in camera, design, and display, may not be released this year. According to renowned tipster Evan Blass, Motorola is planning to introduce the Edge 70 Ultra in 2026 and is currently shelving the Ultra model.

“There might not be a Motorola Edge 60 Ultra, but there’s definitely an Edge 70 Ultra,” the tipster posted on X. However, the company has not confirmed the details at the moment and there are still possibilities that the company may introduce its top-end model this year.

Last year’s Motorola Edge 50 Ultra was the top-end device in the Edge 50 series. However, some fans questioned the tag due to the use of Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. However, the device was capable enough to hold its ground in several areas. It boasts 16GB of RAM, 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64MP periscope telephoto lens.

The device also included a 50MP selfie camera, a 4,500 mAh battery with 125W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging, making it a capable device in its class. However, the entry of new devices in the segment, such as the OnePlus 13s, iQOO 13, Realme GT 7 Pro, and others, could pose a challenge to the brand, if it introduces a new Ultra model.

However, if we believe Blass’s post on X, Motorola will release a new Ultra model next year. Another theory that supports this strategy is that its Ultra phones could be updated biennially. The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, which debuted in 2022, did not receive a 2023 successor and was instead succeeded by the Edge 50 Ultra in 2024, adding weight to the theory.

According to reports, Motorola may be refining its premium segment strategy in order to better compete with high-end rivals through more significant generational upgrades.
