AdvertisementsMicromax is rumoured to be working on a water and dust proof smartphone, dubbed as the Micromax Splash.
Rumours were trigerred after leakster @MMX posted an image of the forthcoming Micromax phone, stating: “Micromax Splash (unconfirmed) First IP67 certified Waterproof (1m for 30 mins) and Dust proof phone.”
So far, there's no information on the specifications of the Micromax Splash. However, looking at the image, the smartphone seems to have all-plastic construction, with volume buttons on the edge. The smartphone is likely to have a 5MP rear camera along with an LED flash.

If launched, Micromax will join the likes of Sony and Samsung to launch waterproof smartphones. Samsung last year launched the Galaxy S4 Active, featuring IP67-certified dust and water resistant version of the I9505 Galaxy S4 (which runs on the Qualcomm APQ806T Snapdragon 600 chipset).
Sony launched the Xperia ZR smartphone, featuring 4.55-inch display, 13MP camera and 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM.
