Meizu formally enters India, MX5 to sell from 2pm today on Snapdeal
HIGHLIGHTS

Meizu has been building its brand in India for some time now. The Meizu MX5 is the company's first flagship phone here.

The Meizu MX5 smartphone will start selling on Snapdeal from 2pm today. Of course, you can buy it only if you’ve registered for it. The phone runs on a MediaTek Helio X10 SoC, and supports 4G connectivity and fast charging. According to Meizu, the MX5 can be charged up to 25% in 10 minutes. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, and is powered by a 3150 mAh battery. There is also a 20.7MP rear camera on the device, with laser-assisted autofocus system and true tone dual-LED flash. The front camera is specced at 5MP, and the phone has a full metal body. It is priced at Rs. 19,999.

The Chinese smartphone maker had earlier announced the Meizu MX5 through its social channels, and its registrations have been going on for a week now. Meizu formally introduced the brand at an event held in New Delhi today. The company has been building its brand in the country for some time now, launching the Meizu M1 Note and M2 Note smartphones before this. Both these phones have recieved quite a bit of consumer interest, being priced in the sub-10k region. In fact, we recently reviewed the Meizu M2 Note and found that it is a very balanced smartphone.

Further, Meizu announced today that it already has 40 service centers across 20 cities in India. While that is not a very big number, it shows that the company is paying heed to the needs of the Indian consumer. The number of service centers is usually the first question that is asked of OEMs in India. Meizu will be providing doorstep service to its customers.

The company has also localised R&D for India, and while Meizu didn’t elaborate on this, it presumably means that the company is working on giving an Indian touch to its UI, just like Xiaomi has done in the past.
