South Korean tech giant, LG, has announced on Twitter that their flagship smartphone, the LG G5 will be announced on Feb 21 2016 at MWC. It will be announced on the same day as the Samsung Galaxy S7, so it will be interesting to see the features and specifications of the two smartphones compared against one another.

In the past few weeks we have seen some leaks about the LG G5 circulating the Internet. The LG G5 is expected to come with a metal unibody design in order to compete with Samsung and Apple’s flagship phones. LG is one of the very few mainstream brands to still use plastic on their flagship smartphones.

Leaked images of the device on Reddit also show a dual camera setup at the back of the LG G5.  In addition, the images also show rear facing physical buttons on the smartphone, which are located below the two cameras. We have seen this design adopted on a number of LG smartphones. According to the post, the dual camera setup will use 16MP and 8MP cameras and may come with laser autofocus and a colour spectrum sensor. The LG G5 is expected to house the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and a 5.3-inch QHD screen. It is speculated that the LG G5 will come with a secondary display. It is also speculated that this secondary display will be one of LG’s headline features across its lineup in 2016. Other rumoured specifications include – an IR blaster, a USB Type-C port and a ‘Pressure sensor’ to compete with Apples 3D Touch.
