HIGHLIGHTS

The HTC Nexus Sailfish is tipped to the the successor to the Nexus 5X

HTC is rumoured to be manufacturing both Nexus devices this year and a leak by Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, suggests that the smaller of the two devices (codenamed Sailfish/S1), might be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. The leakster posted an image of what he claims to be the build.prop file of the upcoming phone. A build file is used by the Android operating system to configure itself to the device. So it needs to have key information about phone. Reading through the text reveals references to ARM64-V8a and ms8996, which suggests that the device might be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC. The file also shows a pixel density of 420ppi, and if previous leaks hinting at a 5.2-inch screen are true, then the device should feature a Full HD display.

Previous reports have suggested that the HTC Sailfish might offer 4GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage. The phone is expected to feature 12MP and 8MP cameras along with a 2770mAh battery. It may also sport a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and speakers on the bottom.

While the successor to the Nexus 5X is tipped to be codenamed Sailfish, the 6P’s successor is rumoured to be codenamed Marlin or M1. Further, if the Sailfish features a Snapdragon 820 SoC, then the HTC Marlin, might sport the new Snapdragon 821 SoC. Rumoured specifications of the Marlin suggest a 5.5-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM, along with 32GB and 128GB storage variants. Like the HTC Sailfish, the Marlin is also tipped to sport 12MP and 8MP cameras.
