In an exclusive interview, HTech CEO Madhav Sheth unveiled plans to release two foldable smartphones in India by the end of 2024, marking a significant step in the brand’s expansion. The Magic V2, priced under Rs 1 lakh, will be one of India’s most affordable foldable phones.

In an exclusive conversation with Times Network and Digit, Sheth confirmed that both the Magic V2 and Magic V3 are currently undergoing testing, with their launch set for later this year. The Magic V2, globally recognised for being one of the slimmest foldables, will be priced at under Rs 1 lakh, making it one of the most affordable foldable phones in India at the time of launch. Meanwhile, the more premium Magic V3 will cost over Rs 1 lakh. This move represents Honor’s boldest entry into India’s premium smartphone segment since re-entering the market last year.

“The Magic 6 Pro’s success in India gave us the confidence to launch these foldables. We want Indian consumers to experience the Magic V2 before they buy their first foldable phone,” Sheth explained.

The introduction of the Magic V2 and V3 comes as Honor takes aim at a market currently dominated by Samsung. While other brands like OnePlus, Vivo, and Google are also entering the foldable space, Honor’s affordable pricing strategy could make a serious impact.

Beyond Foldable Phones

Honor’s ambitions in India don’t stop with foldables. Sheth confirmed that the company will be launching more devices in the Indian market, including the upcoming Honor X9c, a successor to the Honor X9b, expected to debut later this year.

However, Sheth stressed that Honor won’t flood the market with multiple rebranded devices, as some competitors do. Instead, the company will maintain a focused, high-quality portfolio across different price ranges. “We are committed to offering unique, well-rounded products rather than overwhelming customers with too many versions of the same phone,” he said.

Honor’s Future in India

As Honor continues its expansion in India, the brand’s strategy is to build a solid foundation by offering premium features at competitive prices. Currently, Honor operates around 300 service centers across the country, with plans to ensure widespread accessibility for its growing customer base.
