Leaked images of an iPhone 8 dummy also offer a glimpse on how stainless steel edges might look on the phone

While we have been hearing a lot of rumours about the upcoming Apple iPhone, images of  a dummy phones were leaked online yesterday. The images of the dummy handset seems to incorporate most of the rumoured physical attributes of the upcoming iPhone. The images showcase an edge-to-edge display, a dual camera at the back and no Touch ID (fingerprint scanner). The pictures also give us a first glimpse of how the alleged iPhone 8 may look with stainless steel sides. According to the tweet by leakster Benjamin Geskin, “this is the CNC model according to Foxconn.”

There are plenty of rumours doing the rounds about the new iPhone, but the most prominent one is still the inclusion of an OLED display. We have seen multiple reports in the past, about the same and a new report by Forbes quotes Morgan Stanley, further confirming the iPhone 8's specs. The report suggest that an earlier forecast by Morgan Stanley pointed to 50 million units of OLED panel supply to Apple, but that has now grown to 50-100 million. Moreover, the report suggest that features like wireless charging, 3D sensors (probably for VR) and a curved form-factor are also in the pipeline.

Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone 8 will feature a 5.8-inch OLED display in a smaller form-factor and an Iris scanner, similar to what the Samsung Galaxy S8 offers. It is expected to come with 3GB RAM, while the base storage option could be 64GB, going all the way up to 256GB. Like every year, we can also expect a newer improved SoC on the phone.

From what we know so far, the next iPhone will be feature packed to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the device. Earlier reports have suggested that the iPhone 8 may set you back by over $1000 (Rs. 64,500 approximately) and we are not accounting for the bump in prices one would have to pay to buy the phone in India.
