Turn your MacBook into a touchscreen laptop

According to a report by Apple Insider, a startup called Intricuit unveiled Magic Screen at CES 2026. It is a snap-on touchscreen accessory designed specifically for Apple silicon MacBooks. The idea is to bring touch directly to existing MacBooks.

The accessory magnetically aligns with the MacBook’s display and connects using a single USB-C cable. Once attached, the tempered glass layer supports familiar touch gestures like tapping, swiping, scrolling, and pinch-to-zoom. The experience, at least according to demos, looks closer to using an iPad with a keyboard than a traditional laptop.

Intricuit is clearly pitching Magic Screen at creative users. The bundled stylus supports pressure sensitivity and hover, making it suitable for sketching, note-taking, photo editing, and precise object manipulation.

There is also tight integration with Apple’s ecosystem. With iPhone Mirroring available on macOS 15 and later, Magic Screen lets users interact with iOS apps on their MacBook display using touch, effectively turning the laptop into a larger interactive canvas.

Battery life is another talking point. Intricuit claims up to 100 hours of use on a single charge for both the digitiser and the stylus. The box includes a folio case that doubles as a stand to reduce screen wobble during touch input. When detached, the Magic Screen can also be used as a standalone drawing tablet.

Compatibility covers most M-series MacBooks, with the exception of the original M1 MacBook Air. Intricuit says the accessory does not impact display clarity, though users are advised to remove it before closing the lid.

About Apple’s Touchscreen MacBook

Apple is also expected to launch a redesigned MacBook Pro with an OLED touch screen later this year. The device is rumoured to use next generation M6 chips built on TSMC’s 2 nm process. Apple is also reportedly shrinking the bezels further, moving toward a cleaner hole punch style camera layout and giving the Pro lineup a thinner and lighter chassis. Combined with an OLED panel, users can expect deeper blacks, better HDR reproduction and far superior contrast compared to the current mini LED displays. However, nothing has been made official yet and we would not get too excited before Apple decides to spill the beans.
