Update: Microsoft has officially announced it will be releasing Windows 10 worldwide on June 29 as a free upgrade for users of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. "Today, Microsoft is excited to announce the availability date of Windows 10. Beginning July 29th , 2015 Windows 10 will be available in 190 markets globally as a free upgrade to customers running on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Built with help from more than four million people around the world, Windows 10 marks the start of a new era of personal technology, designed to empower people to do great things," said the company in a statement.

An online retailer has accidently disclosed the pricing and release date of Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system. The latest version of Windows OS will be available to equipment manufacturers from August 31, according to a listings at Newegg.com.
Microsoft had been hinting at a summer release for the OS, though has not given any official release date if the OS. Posted on Newsegg.com, the listings reveal that the highly-anticipated Windows 10 OEM copies will be released on August 31 and the online retailer is also taking pre-orders for the software. According to the site, the Professional version will be priced at $149 and the Home edition will cost $109. The listing was first spotted by ZDNet. This is not the first time the site has disclosed Windows OS release, in 2012 it had started taking preorders of Windows 8.
Microsoft had stated a free upgrade for those using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The company aims to run the OS across deices, ranging from desktops with large hard drives to low-cost smartphones. This is a part of the company's plans to make sure that the Windows 10 OS will reach a billion devices within two to three years. Windows 10 has a similar look and feel as the Windows 7 OS with a more modern design. The Start Menu is in front and center again, a move made by the company after its Windows 8 OS was criticized for removing the feature.
AMD CEO Lisa Lu had accidently revealed in an earnings call that the upcoming operating system will be released in late July. Su had said “With the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up." Microsoft has declined to comment on the information, however a spokeswoman had stated that the company was planning a summer launch of the software and "we look forward to sharing more details about how the upgrade will be offered at a later date."
