Photos of new Apple iPad Air 2 have surfaced online ahead of its official launch on October 16th. The new images reveal a TouchID sensor, the front panel, A8X chip and audio control components of the upcoming iPad Air 2.
Rumors about the A8 X chip in the next version of the iPad Air have been around for some time now. According to reports, the new iPad Air will have a 9.7-inch display with a golden rear metal covering. The new images reveal a front panel that looks similar in design to its predecessor but is thinner. The Home button cable appears to have room for Touch ID button with a stainless steel ring. The pictures reveal a new volume control component with volume up and down buttons can be seen on the lower-end of the image. Apart from the A8 chip, the iPad Air 2 will also feature a 2GB RAM as it is expected to boast of split screen display.
Apple has already sent out press invites for its Oct 16th event which is expected to include the upgrades to the current generation iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina. Recently developer Hamza Sood discovered new code in iOS 8.1 that hints at upcoming Apple Pay mobile payments service and Touch ID fingerprint readers in the new iPads. Sood has found a string of code that references Touch ID-enabled iPads. It reads, "Pay with iPad using Touch ID. With Apple Pay, you no longer need to type card numbers and shipping information."
