As per the report, OpenAI Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki told employees that the upcoming model delivers meaningful improvements compared to GPT-5.5, the company’s current leading model. However, the company has not confirmed the launch timeline and specs, but may offer notable advancements in reasoning, performance and overall capability. The report also added that the San-Fransico based AI company is also considering price cuts to compete with its rivals including Anthropic, the report added.

This release follows Anthropic’s recent launch of Claude Fable 5, a public-facing AI model built on its more advanced Mythos system. Anthropic says the model performs strongly in software development, visual understanding and knowledge-based tasks. However, the company has also implemented safeguards that restrict responses in areas considered high risk.

Anthropic initially introduced Mythos to a limited group of partners earlier this year due to concerns about its potential misuse. It was later expanded to companies in multiple countries.

On the other hand, OpenAI recently confirmed that it has confidentially filed paperwork with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for a future initial public offering (IPO). The company said it expects to go public by next year, the report added. However, no details have been announced yet.

In the meantime, OpenAI has partnered with Visa to enable AI agents to initiate and complete payments within OpenAI’s ecosystem. Visa will integrate its global payments network, tokenization, and security infrastructure into the platform, allowing AI-driven transactions within user-defined spending limits and controls.
