PlayStation Plus games for July 2026

First thing’s first, you can claim these games between July 7 until August 3. Now that we are clear on that, let’s take a look at the games that are available.

The first game that you need to take note of is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Cross-Gen Bundle for both PS5 and PS4. However, do note that this is the 2023 release and not the original 2011 Modern Warfare 3. Even though the game received criticism at launch, it still offers a multiplayer experience. The title also marked the end of Activision’s annual Modern Warfare release strategy, with the publisher later confirming it would move away from releasing a new Modern Warfare title every year.

The second game is For the King 2, the sequel to the tactical role-playing game that debuted on PC in 2023. Inspired by tabletop adventures, the game combines turn-based combat with roguelite mechanics and procedurally generated maps, meaning every playthrough feels a little different. This one is super fun to play with friends.

And the third game is CrossCode, an action RPG inspired by classic 16-bit games. The game comes with retro-style visuals, fast-paced combat, puzzle-filled dungeons and deep RPG progression. You can think of this as a mix of nostalgic gameplay with modern mechanics.

End of physical PlayStation game discs from 2028

Apart from announcing July’s PlayStation Plus lineup, Sony also shared an update that has left many fans surprised and well, disappointed.

In a recent post published on the PlayStation Blog, the company confirmed that it will discontinue physical disc production for all new PlayStation games releasing from January 2028.

This means that after the aforementioned date, new titles will launch only digitally through the PlayStation Store and participating retailers.

The company also added that the decision only applies to games released after January 2028. Existing titles and games scheduled to launch before that deadline will continue to be available on physical discs.

According to Sony, the move reflects changing consumer behaviour as more players now choose to purchase and download games digitally rather than buying boxed copies. The company also said that the transition will allow it to better align with how most PlayStation users access their games today.
