BGMI Lite: India launch timeline

Krafton India made the announcement in a LinkedIn post. The company said it is “super thrilled” to announce that BGMI Lite is set to launch in India by the end of 2026 and will open “the doors to a new generation of players and marking the next milestone in the evolution of the BGMI ecosystem.”

The company has not announced an exact launch date yet. It also has not confirmed whether there will be a pre-registration period. Krafton says more details about BGMI Lite, including its gameplay features, will be revealed closer to launch.

The announcement comes at a time when PUBG Mobile is also preparing to launch its own lighter version globally.

BGMI Lite: What to expect

While Krafton has not confirmed the features of BGMI Lite, PUBG Mobile Light likely offers some clues.

PUBG Mobile says its Light version is designed to provide a lighter way to play without removing the key battle royale experience. Its initial download will be around 1GB on Android and under 2GB on iOS.

The PUBG Mobile Lite version will retain the classic Erangel map, supplies and core combat. Players will also be able to use their existing PUBG Mobile account, carry over owned items and play with friends using the main game.

It is possible that BGMI Lite could follow a similar approach. A smaller initial download and lower device requirements to make the game easier to run on budget smartphones. Do note that Krafton has not confirmed these features for BGMI Lite yet.
