Ghost of Yotei is getting a new story expansion called Echoes of Sekigahara
If you enjoyed spending hours in the world of Ghost of Yotei as Atsu and got the blues the moment you finished the main story, here is some good news. Sucker Punch Productions has just announced a new story expansion that will take players back into her past while adding new areas, enemies and weapons to the game. Called Echoes of Sekigahara, the expansion will arrive on October 1 along with a new combat survival mode called Most Wanted. So, if you have already finished Ghost of Yōtei and wanted a reason to return to the game, this update could give you plenty to do. Here is everything you need to know about what’s in store.

Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara expansion coming soon
As mentioned already, the new narrative expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara. The story will move between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s past, giving players a closer look at what happened before she returned home and began her journey of revenge.
In the present-day portion of the expansion, Atsu will meet Nagato, a character from her past who has travelled to Ezo. Players will also get to explore a previously unseen valley that was once home to The Snake and his followers, the Vipers.
The expansion will also take players back in time. Through flashbacks, players will experience Atsu’s time during the Battle of Sekigahara, along with an important event from her life before she returned home.
In a nutshell, Echoes of Sekigahara will not just add another location or a few new missions to Ghost of Yotei. It will also explore more of Atsu’s history and introduce a character connected to her past. The expansion will bring new enemies, heavy weapons, armour sets and dyes. Sucker Punch has not revealed all the details yet, but the studio says it will share more information as the October 1 launch gets closer.
What else is in store?
Alongside the story expansion, Sucker Punch is also introducing Ghost of Yotei: Most Wanted, a new single-player combat survival mode.
The studio describes it as its own take on the roguelike genre. Players will accept bounties to begin new runs, with enemies rewarding them with perks as they progress. The mode will also let players unlock additional characters to use.
The studio has already shown three characters that players can use in the mode. Atsu is particularly effective with dual katanas, while Oyuki uses the kusarigama and Nagato specialises in the yari.
There are also some changes coming for all Ghost of Yotei players, even those who do not buy the upgrade. A new Beauty of Yotei mode will let players use the game as a screensaver-like experience, showing off the environments of the gorgeous world.
The October 1 update will also add the option to keep the appearance of one armour set while using the stats of another. There will also be a new high-contrast accessibility option, additional Photo Mode stamps, new cosmetics for New Game+ and new tracks for Watanabe Mode.
