GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is getting huge pre-orders despite the high price, says Take-Two boss

The Ultimate Edition of GTA 6, as well all knew way before pre-orders opened up, is not really a cheap purchase. Rockstar Games has priced the Standard Edition at Rs 5,999, while players who want the more expensive Ultimate Edition will have to spend Rs 7, 499. But despite that, it looks like a huge number of fans are willing to pay more for the upcoming game. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, in a recent interview, revealed that pre-orders are currently leaning towards the premium edition rather than the cheaper version. Read on to know all he said.

GTA 6 Ultimate Edition getting more pre-orders

Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Zelnick revealed that GTA 6 pre-orders are currently “skewing more to the premium edition”. However, he also suggested that this does not necessarily mean the Ultimate Edition will outsell the Standard Edition overall.

According to Zelnick, the current numbers could simply reflect the type of people who are pre-ordering GTA 6 this early. The most dedicated GTA fans are likely to be the first ones to secure their copy, and these players may also be more willing to spend extra on the Ultimate Edition.

As mentioned already, GTA 6 is available for pre-orders in two editions in India. The Standard Edition costs Rs 5,999, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at Rs 7,499. Both versions include the base game, but the Ultimate Edition also comes with the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and additional digital content.

Players who pre-order either edition will also receive a one-month GTA+ subscription and the Vintage Vice City Pack as pre-order benefits. The Ultimate Edition additionally includes its exclusive upgrade.

Don’t expect a big GTA 6 discount soon

Zelnick was also asked whether players should wait for Black Friday or the Christmas shopping season to get GTA 6 at a lower price.

And even though he could not guarantee what individual retailers might do, he pointed to GTA 5 as an example of Rockstar’s pricing strategy. He said GTA 5 maintained its pricing for a very long time, much longer than what is normally seen with entertainment releases.

This could mean that players waiting for a major discount shortly after launch may have to wait longer than expected. Retailers can, of course, choose to reduce prices themselves, but Take-Two does not control those decisions.

For the unversed, the game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, just before the major holiday shopping period. Rockstar has not yet announced when GTA 6 will arrive on PC. While the studio’s previous releases have often arrived on PC later than consoles, there is currently no official PC release date for GTA 6.
