Who is remaking Silent Hill 1?

The Silent Hill 1 remake is being developed by Bloober Team, the same studio that rebuilt Silent Hill 2. The Polish studio signed a multi game agreement with Konami to work on new titles based on the publisher’s IP, and Silent Hill 1 is the next project in that pipeline.

Although Konami has not shared deep production details, industry leakers claim the remake has been in development for nearly three years. It is also rumoured to use Bloober Team’s new open cities technology, which could allow the game to expand beyond the tight, fog filled layouts of the 1999 original.

Launch date, what to expect and everything else

Konami has not provided a launch date, but fans have drawn parallels with the Silent Hill 2 remake, which spent roughly two years in full production. Since Silent Hill 1 was formally confirmed in June 2025, early estimates place its release around Summer 2027.

Moreover, it also isn’t clear what platform the game will launch on. However, it is widely expected that the game will follow the Silent Hill 2 route by launching on PC and PlayStation 5. Konami’s broader revival strategy suggests a staggered rollout of Silent Hill projects, and this remake appears to be positioned as one of the flagship titles in that plan.

Coming to what we can expect from the game, the remake will once again follow Harry Mason as he searches for his missing daughter, Cheryl. Core gameplay pillars such as combat, exploration and puzzle solving are set to return, though modernised systems are expected across the board.

Early rumours also point to more reactive melee and firearm mechanics, expanded optional areas, and new access to buildings that were previously locked in the original game. Visual upgrades are also central to the project, with dynamic lighting and improved textures intended to maintain Silent Hill’s oppressive atmosphere. Industry chatter also suggests that the remake could make an appearance at The Game Awards 2025, giving fans their first proper look at the project.
