Specifications and features

The Sound Tower ST50F and ST40F are built around Samsung’s updated acoustic architecture, with ST50F offering sound output of up to 240W and ST40F up to 160W. The speakers use dual woofers paired with waveguide-assisted tweeters, which claim to spread sound evenly across a wider area. In real-world use, this should translate to louder, more consistent sound across a room or open space.

Both models support Wide Sound Stage and multiple sound modes, allowing users to adjust output based on music, karaoke, or general entertainment. Auracast Group Play enables multiple compatible speakers to be linked together wirelessly, while Stereo Play allows two Sound Towers to be paired for left and right channel separation.

On the software side, the Sound Tower App provides control over audio settings, lighting effects, and party modes. Entertainment-focused features include DJ Booth effects, Karaoke mode, and a dedicated guitar input, indicating that the Sound Tower is designed not just for playback but for interactive use.

Party Lights+ has also been expanded, offering more lighting presets and real-time music-reactive effects through the app. While similar lighting systems exist on rival products, Samsung’s deeper integration with its app ecosystem should offer finer control and easier customisation.

Battery life is a key differentiator between the two models. The ST50F offers up to 18 hours of playback and includes wheels and a telescopic handle, while the ST40F delivers up to 12 hours with a simpler top carry handle. The addition of longer battery life, especially on the ST50F, makes the Sound Tower more practical for outdoor use compared to older, more power-dependent party speakers.

Both speakers carry an IPX4 water resistance rating, making them suitable for light rain and poolside environments, though not for full water immersion.

Although their exact pricing and availability are yet to be revealed, these could compete against the JBL PartyBox series and Sony’s SRS-XV lineup.
