BenQ RD280UG programming monitor with 3:2 4K+ display launches in India: Price and availability

BenQ has launched the RD280UG programming monitor in India, targeting software developers who work long hours across complex workflows. It has a 28-inch 4K+ display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. That aspect ratio is meant to offer more vertical real estate for codes and the refresh rate should be fast enough for a smooth navigation. Unlike typical productivity or creator monitors, this model is built with features focussed on aiding developer workflows.

Specifications and features

As already mentioned, this one has a 28-inch screen with matte coating. The nano matte panel is designed to minimise reflections, especially in brightly lit offices or home setups. This helps maintain consistent readability without needing to constantly adjust screen position.

The 3:2 aspect ratio increases vertical space, allowing users to view more lines of code without scrolling. This directly improves efficiency when working with long scripts or debugging.

Meanwhile, the 120Hz refresh rate, while often associated with gaming, plays a practical role here. It reduces motion blur and stutter during scrolling, which can make long coding sessions less tiring on the eyes.

Software-level features like Coding mode is said to automatically adjust contrast and colour depending on whether the user is working in dark or light themes. Paper Colour Mode, on the other hand, reduces harsh brightness for reading-heavy tasks, which can help during documentation or review work.

The monitor also comes with MoonHalo bias lighting that adds ambient illumination behind the monitor to reduce contrast strain between the screen and surroundings. Another feature is Night Hours Protection that adjusts brightness and colour temperature for late-night usage.

You can adjust the height, rotate it, and pivot it for optimal ergonomics.

This is not a general-purpose, entertainment or gaming monitor. Rather, it is workflow-specific hardware. And it works with macOS, Windows, and Linux.
