Using WhatsApp on your old device? You might want to read this. Moving forward, the texting app will no longer run on 15 older devices. This is being done both as a security measure as well as to improve user experience. WhatsApp has discontinued support on some old Android and iOS devices.WhatsApp’s website mentions that the app will no longer be compatible with devices that are running on Android OS versions 4.1 and older from October 24.

Whatsapp incompatible devices
Under this new policy, users of 15 devices will no longer be able to access WhatsApp, according to a report by 91mobiles. These 15 devices include:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2
- Samsung Galaxy S2
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus
- Nexus 7 (upgradable to Android 4.2)
- Motorola Xoom
- Motorola Droid Razr
- HTC One
- HTC Desire HD
- HTC Sensation
- LG Optimus 2X
- LG Optimus G Pro
- Sony Xperia Z
- Sony Xperia S2
- Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc3
Now, what can you do if you’re still using one of these devices?
It seems that the only option that you have is to switch to a newer device. If you’re an Android user, go for Android OS version 5.0 and above. And if you want to use WhatsApp on an iPhone, then you’ll have to pick up a smartphone with iOS 12 and above. In the case of Linux-based keypad phones, choose KaiOS 2.5.0 and above, this includes your JioPhone and JioPhone 2 as well.

Don’t get startled just yet, WhatsApp informs that it will inform users whose devices are not compatible with the app itself and also give them reminders. If the device is still not updated or upgraded, then users might not be able to enjoy WhatsApp.
