WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new update for iPhone users, which allows them to make status updates faster and more seamlessly. The new update, available with version 25.22.83 on the App Store, brings a dedicated “My Status” shortcut directly to the iOS share sheet. This will now allow users to post photos or videos as WhatsApp Status updates from any app on their device, without having to open WhatsApp separately.

Until now, posting content as a status update from another app required several steps. Users had to choose WhatsApp as the target app, then contacts or groups, and finally, the option to add it to their status. The new update cuts out this extra step by providing a direct entry point. Users can instantly send their chosen media to WhatsApp’s status editor by selecting the “My Status” button from the share menu. They can then further customise their post by adding text, emojis, drawings, or captions before publishing.

With this, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform aims to make the process feel more natural. For instance, if someone captures a moment in another application and wants to share it immediately, they can now do so without hampering their flow. The new shortcut allows for quicker sharing, fewer taps, and a smoother experience overall.

This new feature is currently rolling out to some users. If you have not received the feature yet, you will get it in the coming weeks with a new update. For the unversed, Android users have already got the feature earlier this year.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also reportedly testing a new voicemail-style feature, which will allow users to send a quick note after a missed call. It will appear on the call screen and in chat, delivering the message along with a missed call notification, making it easier and convenient.
