Chrome Remote Desktop allows access to PCs right from an Android device
Google has released Chrome Remote desktop Android app which allows you to access your PC from your mobile through Chrome Remote Desktop.
Google has launched a mobile-client application called “Chrome Remote Desktop app for Android” that allows remote access to your PC or Mac right from your Android smartphone or tablet.
To use the application, users have to install a helper application on your desktop or laptop computer. The helper app installs as an extension to Google Chrome or the Chrome-based OS that powers Google’s Chromebooks. The app is available in the Chrome Web Store and works on Windows (XP and above), Mac (OS X 10.6 and above) and Linux computers. Google says that the iOS version of the app will also be launched later this year.
After installation users will be able to open the app and connect to their PC with just a tap, navigate through their files and folders and manage them easily. Google had first launched the Chrome Remote Desktop in 2011 which allowed users to access their PC from other PCs. The internet giant had launched the remote desktop control for Google Hangouts last year.
Amazon has also launched a similar remote access software called Amazon Workspaces in March. The service lets users access their work PCs from any device including PC, Mac, iPhone, Android or Kindle tablets. Amazon aims to make its Fire tablets more business-friendly with the new app.
Google has also launched a new Google Camera app for Android users. The app brings features like Photo sphere, Lens Blur among others that were earlier available for Google Nexus devices only. It can be downloaded from the Google Play store and works with Android 4.4.
