Best 256 GB Internal Memory Mobile Phones

Best 256 GB Internal Memory Mobile Phones

When you are choosing a smartphone to purchase, internal memory is often one of the key factors in making your choice. Manufacturers are increasingly choosing to drop the external SD card slot from their devices, so it is more imperative than ever before to choose a smartphone with sufficient internal memory. Cloud storage is expensive, so having abundant internal storage is always beneficial. In our opinion, 256 GB is a good starting point in 2023 since file and app sizes are increasing with every passing year. Additionally, you must keep the storage type in mind. For instance, cheaper phones may come with higher internal storage but it is often not as advanced as the ones found in more premium devices, so your read and write speeds may be drastically slower. This would result in slower file transfer and app loading times. One example is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – a premium smartphone that comes with the latest storage standard – UFS 4.0. In comparison, the cheaper OnePlus Nord 2 which costs only ₹34,999 comes with UFS 3.1 storage, which is slower in comparison. Nevertheless, at that price, it is still decent to have UFS 3.1 and not something lower like UFS 2.2 instead. With that said, as per our tests and observations, these are the best 256 GB internal storage smartphones in India you can purchase.

PROS:
  • Important design tweaks, Powerful performer, Brilliant cameras, Beautiful display, Great battery backup
CONS:
  • Too big, No expandable storage, Slow charging

Samsung’s 2023 flagship, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, comes with UFS 4.0 storage on the 256 GB model of this phone. The phone has the latest storage standard which brings almost 2x better read and write speeds compared to UFS 3.1. Benchmarks such as Androbench also clearly indicate a significant improvement in read and write speeds, which means transfer speeds are way faster and app loading times are also lower. You will see the benefit of UFS 4.0 storage even when you are saving 8K videos after editing them, loading games, and more. Storage aside, the phone is a performer with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC (an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2), an amazing camera stack, and great battery life making it our top recommendation for the best 256 GB internal storage smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S23

Specs Score

PROS:
  • Classy looks, compact size, Vibrant and bright display, Speedy performance, Great cameras across the board, Excellent battery life
CONS:
  • Slower ROM and RAM in 128 GB model, No Dolby Vision or 10-bit colour, Only 25 W charging

The 256 GB version of the compact Samsung Galaxy S23 comes with the latest UFS 4.0 storage which is obviously just as fast as the Ultra variant. However, if you are looking at buying this phone and want the fastest storage possible, do not choose the 128 GB variant as it only features the slower UFS 3.1 storage standard. It also comes with the lower RAM standard – LPDDR5 instead of LPDDR5X, so we advise you to go for the 256 GB storage version. The performance of the phone is great, the size is compact and easy to navigate, and the camera stack is pretty outstanding as well. Battery life is decent, but not the best in the market.

Rear camera : 64 MP
Storage: 256GB
Battery capacity: 5000 (mAh)
PROS:
  • Nice premium design, Beast of a performer, Super slick display
CONS:
  • Software is not the best, Camera performance is average

The iQOO 11 is a blazingly fast phone that topped most of our benchmark lists at the Digit test lab. You’ve got the speedy Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that comes with UFS 4.0 storage which nearly doubles your read and write speeds compared to UFS 3.1. Another advantage is this also lowers power consumption. According to iQOO, the power consumption is lowered by about 40 per cent. You’ve also got a nice 2K AMOLED E6 display with 144 Hz refresh rate, which makes it a great device for content consumption and gaming as well.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

Specs Score
8.4/10

Storage: 128GB
Battery capacity: 4352 (mAh)

8.6
PROS:
  • Smooth Dynamic Island animations, Excellent performance, Reliable and versatile camera system, Good battery life, Bright display
CONS:
  • Still an incremental upgrade, No USB-C charging, Quite heavy, Only 20 W charging

The iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at 128 GB NVMe storage, but it also has a 256 GB variant. There are other variants as well such as 512 GB and 1 TB. The phone’s storage is fast and as per our tests, the phone took about 30 seconds to transcode a 4K video to 1080p, which is great. However, it is slower than the S23 Ultra’s UFS 4.0 storage. The rest of the performance is also spectacular; app load times are minimal, the UI is fluid, and the battery life is stellar. The cameras are also one of the best in the premium segment. The only downsides are the slow 20 W charging and the heft of the device.

Screen Size: 6.1u0022
Rear camera : 12 MP
Storage: 128GB
Battery capacity: 3279 (mAh)
PROS:
  • Pocketable form factor, Looks premium, Good cameras
CONS:
  • No A16 Bionic SoC, Lacks fast refresh-rate display, No telephoto lens

The iPhone 14 comes with up to 512 GB of NVMe storage; there are also 128 GB and 256 GB models that you can choose from. The phone has pretty great transfer speeds and the loading times of apps are extremely low, but UFS 4.0 storage will still be faster. Nevertheless, since many apps are better optimised for iOS, there are some instances where apps will still load faster on iPhones. Storage aside, the iPhone 14 comes with the older A15 Bionic chip from iPhone 13 days and has a Super Retina XR display. You get a pair of 12 MP cameras on the back that click great photos, but the camera quality of the 14 Pro Max is definitely better.
