The Samsung Gear Fit 2 is a fitness band, while the Gear IconX are a pair of wireless earbuds, and both can act as standalone music players.
Samsung has announced two new wearable fitness devices called the Gear Fit 2 and the Gear IconX. The Gear Fit 2 is a fitness band and a successor to the original Gear Fit that was launched in 2014, while the Gear IconX are a pair of wireless earbuds that can also track fitness data. Both the devices are compatible only with Android devices running on KitKat v4.4 or above, and with at least 1.5GB of RAM. Further, both devices can work as standalone music players. The Gear Fit 2 will be available from June 10 at $179.99 (approx. Rs. 12,100), while the Gear IconX will be available from Q3 2016.
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 sports a 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED display with 216×432-pixel resolution, and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM. The device offers 4GB of inbuilt storage and is equipped with a 200mAh battery. The Gear Fit 2 features sensors such a GPS, heart rate monitor, barometer and accelerometer. The device is IP68-certified and runs on Samsung's Tizen OS. It is available in two sizes, and can also alert the user of any calls or notifications when synced with a smartphone.
The Samsung Gear IconX wireless earbuds are activated by placing them in the ear, and have a Voice Guide feature that provides voice feedback on the user’s workout progress. It is also a standalone music player with 4GB of storage. Users can control the music by tapping or swiping the earbuds. Each earbud is equipped with a 47mAh battery, and comes with a charging case that is used to store and charge the device.
