Having endured weeks of leaks and speculations by online media, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 has finally received an official announcement just ahead of the launch of the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note10. Samsung unveiled its newest smart wearable at a starting price of $279.99 (Rs 19,800 approx). It will be available in the US from September 27. Samsung has not yet revealed the pricing and availability for the Indian market.

The Galaxy Watch Active2 is, as you can imagine, a successor to the Galaxy Watch Active, which currently sells on Amazon.in for Rs 19,990 in India. As we’ve reported in the past, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 comes in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. Both sizes are available in two variants: Bluetooth (with only Bluetooth) and LTE (with Bluetooth and mobile connectivity). The new wearable also comes in two build options, namely stainless steel (44mm: 42g, 40mm: 37g) and lightweight aluminium (44mm: 30g, 40mm: 26g).

Specs listed by Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is powered by an Exynos 9110 chipset with a Dual-core 1.15GHz processor. The Bluetooth variant gets 768MB of RAM and 4GB of storage whereas the LTE variant gets 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of storage. Sensors on the smartwatch include heart rate monitoring (with 8 photodiodes), electrocardiogram (ECG), accelerometer (measure up to 32g of force), gyroscope, barometer, and an ambient light sensor.

The 44mm variant comes with a 1.4-inch display and a 340mAh battery, while the smaller 40mm variant comes with a 1.2-inch display and a 247mAh battery. The display on both variants is a full-colour always-on Super AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass DX+. Both variants are certified to  IP68 / MIL-STD-810G standards. The new Watch Active2, available in a variety of colours, runs Tizen OS and works with devices running both Android and iOS. There’s no news available yet on the Samsung Watch Active2’s entry into India but we will keep you updated.
