Xiaomi’s Pinecone SoC details leaked, tipped to have two versions

Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Mi 5c soon and the smartphone is tipped to come with the company’s own SoC called Pinecone. Now, Chinese publication, Anzhuo has revealed more details about the octa-core SoC. As per its report, the company is developing two SoC, codenamed V670, and V970. The V670 is tipped to be the entry-level version and is expected to be the one powering the Mi 5c.

The Pinecone V670 is tipped to feature eight Cortex A53 processors in a big.LITTLE setup with four high performance cores and four power efficient cores. It is also expected to come with a 800MHz Mali T860 MP4 graphics. The SoC is said to employ the 28nm process, and be as powerful as the Snapdragon 808.

The Pinecone V970 is tipped to be the high-end SoC and should launch in the fourth quarter of the year. The processor is expected to use four Cortex A73 and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.7GHz and 2Ghz respectively. It is also said to have 900MHz Mali G71 MP12 graphics. The report notes that the SoC may features a 10nm process, and might be used in the Mi 6s and the Mi Note 3.
