Xiaomi will soon launch the Mi 11 series in India, the company has officially confirmed after rival OnePlus announced its OnePlus 9 series earlier this week. The Mi 11 was launched back in December 2020 as the first smartphone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. In the time between, we have been hearing rumours about the Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra and Mi 11 Lite as possible additions to the Mi 11 series.
Soon after OnePlus launched the OnePlus 9 series alongside the OnePlus Watch, Xiaomi India posted a picture on its social media channels with the caption: It’s worth the wait. “While others are focused on getting your attention, we are focused on making fiction a reality, and bringing you an all-new smartphone experience”, the text reads.
Earlier in January, a Xiaomi India executive went on record to reveal that the company will be bringing the Mi 11 Series to India but “are still contemplating the SKUs we want to bring to the country.” Fast forward to March, Xiaomi has revealed that it is hosting a global launch event on March 29 where it is expected to launch the Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Lite, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi Band 6, Mi Notebook Pro and more.
Xiaomi is yet to reveal the exact launch date of the Mi 11 series in India but it is likely to be hosted after the March 29 global launch.
Xiaomi Mi 11 features a 6.81-inch QHD+ (3200x1400 pixels) resolution display that uses an AMOLED panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a new design with curved edges and a squircle camera module. The screen is also topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus for added protection.
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 660 GPU. This is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. It runs on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box.
