So, how many phones can a company sell in a day? Does 2.11 million sound like a viable number? That’s the number of phones that Xiaomi sold on the day of its Mi Fan Festival, racking up revenues of around $335 billion. In fact, the Chinese company set a world record for ‘Most number of phones sold online over 24 hours’.

The Mi Fan Festival has become an annual affair for Xiaomi, organised on the company’s birthday. Held on April 8, the event marked Xiaomi’s five year anniversary and was organised for the first time in India, along with other countries where the company sells its devices. Xiaomi offers a number of promotions, including price cuts on the flagship Xiaomi Mi4 and other offers.

According to reports, the company shipped out the first order just over an hour after the festival began. In addition, Xiaomi shipped out 500,000 orders during the time when the Mi Fan Festival was running.

In India, the company announced a new tie-up with Snapdeal and Amazon and offered discounts worth Rs. 2,000 on the Xiaomi Mi4. In addition, it also offered bundle offers with the Redmi Note, while the Redmi 2 was made available for open sale.
