  • Xiaomi has announced a price drop on both 2GB/16GB and 2GB/32GB variants of the Redmi 6A. The smartphone will now be available at its original launch price.

In November, Xiaomi hiked the prices of its Redmi 6A smartphone in India along with the cost of the Xiaomi Redmi 6,  Mi LED TV 4C Pro 32-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch and Mi 10000mAh power bank. Now, Manu Jain, Vice President of Xiaomi and Managing Director of Xiaomi India has announced that the Redmi 6A will be available at its original launch price of Rs 5,999 for the 2GB RAM, 16GB storage version and Rs 6,999 for the 2GB RAM, 32GB storage variant. The Redmi 6A goes on sale with the new prices today at 12PM via Amazon.in and Mi.com. 


To recall, the Redmi 6A is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. It comes in the two variants mentioned above, both with 2GB RAM and options to select between 16GB and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The device sports a 5.45-inch HD+ screen with an 18:9 display aspect ratio and has a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. It runs on MIUI 9.6 atop Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and is backed by a 3000mAh battery. In terms of optics, the Redmi 6A comes equipped with a single 13MP rear camera sensor with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF support. On the front is a 5MP sensor for selfies. 

Alongside lowering the prices for the Redmi 6A, Xiaomi also recently announced price cuts on its Poco F1 (review) smartphone. The company cut the price of the Poco F1 by Rs 1000, which is applicable to all variants. Poco F1 is now available at a starting price of Rs 19,999 on Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home stores. After the permanent price cut, Poco F1’s 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant now costs Rs 19,999, while the price of its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant comes down to Rs 22,999, the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version of the phone is now priced at Rs 29,999 and the special Armoured edition with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage costs Rs 28,999.
