Vodafone was recently bested by Reliance Jio as the biggest telecom operator in terms of subscriber base.
Recently came the news of Reliance Jio overthrowing Vodafone idea to become the largest telecom operator in India, in terms of consumer numbers. As per the report, Jio reported of 331.3 million subscriber base in the second quarter of 2019, while its rival, Vodafone idea lost customers as its subscriber base dropped from 334.1 million to 320 million. Vodafone idea, however, is not sitting still and has now refreshed its Rs 255 prepaid recharge to offer more data. Under the recharge, users will be able to use 2.5GB of high-speed data per day, which is basically 500MB more than before.
Vodafone users will still get unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day with the Rs 255 recharge pack, which is valid for 28 days. In addition, the new recharge also gives access to Vodafone Play, which means one can view Live TV, Movies and more than 10,000 shows. The new change comes soon after the company introduced its Rs 229 prepaid plan that comes with 2GB data per day and as it offered the same benefits as the Rs 255 recharge, the latter was refreshed to offer more data. The refreshed Rs 255 plan by the telco takes on Jio’s Rs 199 prepaid plan.
The Rs 199 prepaid plan by Jio offers 2GB daily data, along with unlimited national calling and 100 free SMS per day. Jio users also get access to the company’s suite of apps like JioNews, JioCinema, among others. Airtel also has a prepaid plan priced at Rs 299, which comes with 2.5GB data and 100 SMS messages per day for 28 days.
