We are back yet again with an extensive update on all unlimited data plans on offer by major telcos.
We have compared plans by Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio, and Airtel in different price segments.
Vodafone Idea is currently leading in terms of subscriber count and is reportedly followed by Reliance Jio. Airtel is said to have slipped to the third spot, when we talk about subscriber numbers. These telecom operators have been battling it out to get an upper hand on the competition. They keep introducing new plans and revising their existing offerings to retain and add more consumers. Even though we have compared prepaid plans by these companies in the past, a new comparison was due. Once again, here is a round-up of all the new and updated prepaid plans by the three leading telcos.
However, before we dive in, do note that all of the compared packs are unlimited offerings. This means that they offer unlimited calling with 100 SMS messages per day, unless stated otherwise. Additionally, not all of the mentioned plans might be available in every circle. So, we suggest you check if a plan is available in your circle before recharging.
Starting with the most affordable packs of the lot, almost all telcos are fiercely competing in this price range to woo customers. In this segment, Vodafone Idea offers plans priced at Rs 121, Rs 129, Rs 139, Rs 149, Rs 169, and Rs 199. Starting with the telco's base Rs 121 recharge option, it comes with 1GB data for a duration of 21 days, along with unlimited national calling. The Rs 129 and Rs 139 prepaid plans offer 2GB and 3GB of 4G/3G data respectively for a duration of 28 days along with 100 free SMS messages.
Vodafone Idea prepaid plans priced at Rs 149 and above offer daily data. The Rs 149 prepaid option will credit 1GB daily data into your account, along with 100 SMS for 21 days. Rs 169 and Rs 199 recharge options come with a 28-day validity and offer 1GB and 1.5GB of daily data respectively. These two plans also offer 100 SMS messages per day. They are all the plans Vodafone offers under Rs 200 and it should be noted that with all of them, users can access the Vodafone Play app to access free live TV, movies and more.
Moving on to Reliance Jio, the telco has kept up with its promise of offering better benefits than its competitors while keeping costs 20 percent lower. All of the jio mobile recharge plans offer unlimited national calling and 100 free SMS messages per day, along with a complimentary subscription to Jio’s suite of apps like JioNews, JioTV and others. The cheapest plan offered by Jio under Rs 200 is the Rs 98 plan, which credits 2GB in a user’s account for 28 days. Then, there’s the Rs 149 pack that comes with a 28-day validity and offers 1.5GB of data per day and the Rs 198 plan, which offers 2GB daily data for 28 days.
Coming to Bharti Airtel, the telco has aggressively revamped its prepaid offerings in recent times. Under Rs 200, the company has three unlimited prepaid plans that are priced at Rs 129, Rs 169 and Rs 199. The Rs 129 Airtel mobile prepaid recharge offers 2GB data for a validity of 28 days, along with unlimited national calling and 300 SMS messages. The Rs 169 recharge option will credit 1GB data and 100 SMS messages per day for 28 days. Lastly, the Rs 199 recharge offers 1.5GB of data and 100 SMS messages per day for 28 days.
In addition to the above-mentioned benefits, the first two recharge plans priced at Rs 129 and Rs 169 will grant a user free access to Airtel TV and Wynk Music app. However, the Rs 199 plan comes with additional benefits like 100 percent cashback on recharges with the same plan, Airtel TV Premium, Wynk Music, Norton Mobile Security with 1-year validity, a free four-week course on Shaw Academy and up to Rs 2,000 cashback while buying a new 4G device. We advise our readers to go through the terms and conditions of these offers before recharging.
There are numerous plans to select from in the Rs 200 to Rs 299 price segment. Vodafone-Idea has listed five unlimited prepaid recharge unlimited plans to select from in this price range, which is aimed at serving users with varying needs. The Rs 205 plan comes with 2GB data for 35 days, along with 600 SMS, while the Rs 229 recharge by the telco offers 2GB daily data with 100 SMS per day for 28 days. It is clear that the former recharge option is aimed at less data-hungry consumers who rely more on texting, while the latter option is for those who have up to 2GB of daily data consumption.
There’s also a plan priced at Rs 225, which offers 4GB data and 600 SMS messages for 35 days. The Rs 255 plan will credit 2.5GB data and 100 SMS messages daily for a duration of 28 days.
Coming to the last prepaid plan by Vodafone in this segment, the Rs 299 plan, it comes with 3GB data with 70-day validity, along with 1,000 SMS messages. The additional benefits we mentioned in the previous section are also applicable in the above-mentioned recharge options.
Reliance Jio, interestingly, offers just one prepaid plan in this segment, which is priced at Rs 299. Under the recharge, a user gets 3GB data and 100 SMS messages per day for 28 days.
Airtel offers two plans priced at Rs 249 and Rs 299 in this segment. Do note that alongside unlimited calling, these recharge options come with 100 free SMS messages per day. Additional benefits are similar to what we have mentioned for Airtel’s plan in the previous section, however, there’s no Amazon Prime subscription with any of the recharge options priced between Rs 300 and Rs 500.
The price range of Rs 500 and above consists of most long-term validity recharge options. For example, Vodafone’s prepaid plans in this segment start from the Rs 509 option that comes with 1.5GB daily data for 90 days and is followed by Rs 511, Rs 529, and Rs 569 packs. The latter three recharge options come with 2GB, 1.5GB, and 3GB of data per day with a validity of 84 days, 90 days and 84 days of validity respectively. Coming to Reliance Jio, the telco has implemented a different strategy for its higher-priced recharge options. Additionally, Rs 999 and Rs 1,999 recharge options come with 60GB and 125GB of data, which is credited all at once for 90 days and 180 days respectively. There’s also a Rs 1,699 prepaid pack, which credits 2GB data daily, for 365 days. There are also high data volume packs priced at Rs 4,999 and Rs 9,999 that offer 350GB and 750GB data for 360 days.
Airtel has currently divided its offerings in five recharge options in this segment. The Rs 509 and Rs 558 prepaid plans offer 1.4GB data for 90 days and 3GB daily data for 82 days respectively. There are also packs priced at Rs 597 and Rs 998 that will credit 6GB and 12GB of data at once for a validity of 168 days and 336 days respectively. There’s also a Rs 1,699 prepaid plan that comes with 1.4GB daily data, which has a validity of 365 days.
So, these are all the currently available unlimited prepaid recharge options from Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio, and Airtel. We have tried to keep things simple by differentiating these plans based on the price range they fall into. However, do look out for some special perks that some of the telcos offer to sweeten the deal as it could turn out to be beneficial for you.
