Vivo Y91i with MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, 4030mAh battery launched in India at Rs 7990

Vivo has been one of the top five brands that have ruled in the India market. In a bid to strengthen its hold in the country, the Chinese tech company has launched a budget device, the Vivo Y91i, at a starting price of Rs 7,990. This price is for the 16GB storage version and the 32GB variant can be purchased for Rs 8490. The phone will be available in three colours: Sunset Red, Fusion Black, and Ocean Blue.

The Vivo Y91i is the company's latest budget smartphone in the ‘Y series’ that has been aimed at the Indian millennials. The phone comes with a 6.22-inch IPS HD+ 'notched' display that offers a 19:9 aspect ratio and 1520×720 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the phone has an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P22 processor manufactured by 12nm fabrication process. The SoC comes with the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU and gets 2GB RAM. As mentioned, the phone comes with 16GB/32GB internal storage that can be expanded to 256GB via microSD card.
The phone features a 13MP camera (f/2.2 aperture) with an LED flash on the back. There is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture, and the selfie cam can be used to unlock the phone via Face Unlock feature. The Vivo Y91i houses a 4030mAh battery and comes with Dual SIM functionality. It runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 atop Android 8.1 (Oreo).
Vivo has performed well in India and in the fourth quarter of 2018, the brand bagged the third spot with 9 percent share in the total number of shipments in the Indian smartphone market, Counterpoint Research said. In the calendar year 2018, the brand captured 10 percent market share in terms of shipments in the India market. Although it’s share percentage did not change as compared to the previous year, the phone captured the third spot ahead of sister company Oppo.
