Samsung One UI 8 release timeline confirmed: Here’s when Galaxy devices may get Android 16 update

Google recently confirmed that Android 16 will be released in June 2025, which is earlier than expected. This news caught the attention of Samsung users, who are now eager to know when their Galaxy phones will get the update with Samsung’s custom skin, One UI 8. Thankfully, we have some clarity.

In a recent video on Android YouTube channel, Minseok Kang, Vice President and Head of Smartphone Planning at Samsung Electronics, gave a much-awaited update. In the video, he confirmed that One UI 8 will roll out “this summer.”

While summer is still a broad window—spanning from June through September—it’s still a sign that Samsung is preparing to release its next big update sooner rather than later. This is great news for users who were disappointed by the slow rollout of One UI 7.

Unlike One UI 7, which brought major design changes and faced several delays, One UI 8 is expected to be a smaller update. It will likely focus on performance improvements and small refinements. This could make the rollout faster and smoother.

According to reports, Samsung could release the One UI 8 beta version by the end of this month. If that happens, we could see the stable version launching as early as July or August.

As for which phones will get the update first, Samsung hasn’t officially shared a list. However, based on past rollouts, it’s safe to assume that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series will be the first to receive One UI 8. Additionally, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will most likely come preloaded with One UI 8/Android 16.
