Android 16 is officially on the way, and Samsung Galaxy users won’t have to wait too long. Google recently confirmed during The Android Show that Android 16 will reach its stable version next month. Rollouts for brands like Samsung are expected to begin this summer.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, has already been making the rounds online. Word has it that, unlike previous releases, this beta phase may be short and limited to select Galaxy models only.
Just like before, Samsung is expected to start the update rollout with its latest and upcoming flagship phones. Devices like the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will likely be the first to get both the beta and stable versions of One UI 8. Additionally, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will most likely come preloaded with One UI 8/Android 16.
Let’s take a look at what’s new in Android 16.
Android 16 key design features
- Expect smoother, more natural animations with springy effects when closing apps or dismissing notifications.
- Haptic feedback paired with interactions for a more tactile experience
- You’ll also notice a subtle background blur in areas like the notification shade.
- Updated colour themes, responsive components, and emphasised typography to better reflect your personal style.
