Apple is giving away free AirPods with MacBooks but there is a catch

We’ve all been there. We start off by deciding to buy just one Apple product, whether it is an iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook, iPad or AirPods. And before we know it, we are deep into the Apple ecosystem, where every device works seamlessly with the next. Now if you’re also on the fence about buying new Apple products – especially a MacBook- here is some good news. Apple is now offering free AirPods with the purchase of select MacBook models as part of its Back to School offer. The deal can help students save money while picking up a new laptop, but there is a catch. Read on.

You can get free AirPods with MacBook purchase

As mentioned already, thanks to Apple’s latest Back to School offer, you can claim a pair of AirPods at no extra cost (if you are eligible) when you purchase select MacBook models through the company’s education store. The offer is available on the latest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models that qualify under the programme. 

Now, the catch here is that the deal is only available to eligible customers which include university students, parents purchasing on behalf of students, and teachers or staff at qualifying educational institutions.

Moreover, the offer is not available on every MacBook sold through regular retail channels, so purchasing through Apple’s education store is essential. And as with previous Back to School campaigns, Apple may also require verification of educational eligibility before the purchase is completed. Do note that this deal is available until August 27. So, if you plan on buying a Macbook and have a valid student ID, now is the best time. 

Which MacBook should you get?

If you are planning to take advantage of Apple’s offer, the right MacBook depends on how you plan to use it. The MacBook Air is the better choice for most people. It is lightweight, easy to carry around and powerful enough for everyday tasks like browsing the web, attending online classes, writing documents, editing photos and even light video editing. It also offers excellent battery life, making it ideal for students and professionals who are often on the move. 

The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, is meant for those who need much more power. If you regularly edit 4K videos, create 3D content, write code, or work with demanding creative applications, the extra performance and improved cooling system make it a worthwhile upgrade. 

It also features a brighter display and additional ports, which can be useful. 

Summing it up, if your needs are limited to everyday productivity, streaming, office work and casual content creation, the MacBook Air offers the best value. 

But, if your work demands sustained performance for long hours, the MacBook Pro is the better choice. Regardless of which model you choose, Apple’s Back to School offer makes the purchase a little sweeter by throwing in a pair of free AirPods if you are a student.
