Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge unveiled with 5.8mm body, Snapdragon 8 Elite and 200MP camera

Samsung has finally lifted the curtain on the Galaxy S25 Edge, the newest addition to its flagship S series, which was first teased during the Galaxy Unpacked held in January. The S25 Edge makes an immediate impression with its slim and light profile. At just 5.8mm thick and weighing 163 grams, it is Samsung’s slimmest Galaxy S phone to date.

The S25 Edge’s design hallmark is its titanium frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection, which Samsung says offers improved durability over previous generations. It also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

This engineering feat, however, comes with some inevitable trade-offs, most notably, a relatively modest 3,900mAh battery. Samsung claims up to 55% charge in about 30 minutes using a 25W adapter, though, as has become standard, that charger is sold separately. It also supports 15W wireless charging.

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel that has a variable refresh rate of 1–120Hz and supports HDR10+. The Galaxy S25 Edge is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The titanium frame houses a redesigned vapour chamber that Samsung claims efficiently dissipates heat to compensate for thermal limitations introduced by the slim chassis.

The S25 Edge features a 200MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture and OIS, offering what Samsung calls “2x optical quality zoom,” along with a 12MP ultrawide lens with autofocus and macro capabilities. A 12MP front-facing camera handles selfie duties. The camera system leans heavily on Samsung’s ProVisual Engine and AI-based enhancements for low-light photography and skin tone rendering, which it has inherited from the broader Galaxy S25 family.

The Galaxy S25 Edge runs Android 15 with One UI 7, and AI capabilities, which mirror those found in the broader Galaxy S25 lineup, like Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist. It now spans multimodal assistance across apps, camera-based interactions via Google’s Gemini Live, and real-time reminders through context-aware widgets like Now Brief and Now Bar. Much of this AI runs on-device, secured by Samsung Knox Vault.

With its ultra-thin form factor and flagship pricing, the Galaxy S25 Edge enters a tricky balancing act: it’s a statement of engineering finesse, but one that users will judge based on how well it performs in day-to-day life, especially when pushed under sustained workloads or used for high-end content creation.

The Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icyblue. It is priced at $1,099 and will go on sale from May 23. Indian pricing and availability details are expected to be revealed soon, so stay tuned.
