The update adds the usual set of Marshmallow features such as Now on Tap, Doze, and more
Samsung has reportedly started rolling out the Android Marshmallow update for the original Galaxy J5 smartphone that was launched last year. According to a report by Sammobile, the update has the build number: J500FXXU1BPF, and is about 870MB in size. The update comes with the usual suite of Marshmallow features such as Now on Tap, Doze, improved app permissions, and more. Further, the changelog notes that the update also includes a “new TouchWiz” with an “updated design” along with a “vibration pattern concept.” Users should receive the notification regarding the update soon, but can also manually check for updates by going into Settings > About Phone > System Update.
Samsung launched the original Galaxy J5 in July last year at Rs. 11,999. The phone features a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with 1.5GB of RAM. A few months ago, the company had launched an upgraded version of the phone called the Galaxy J5 (2016). The new device sports a slightly larger 5.2-inch HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC with 2GB of RAM. The phone also features Samsung's S Bike Mode that helps motorcycle riders concentrate on the road and not get distracted by calls or notifications. The new Galaxy J5 comes with Android Marshmallow pre-installed.
