Redmi 8A goes official in India.
The entry-level smartphone by Xiaomi comes with upgraded specs over its predecessor.
It sports a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging.
The Redmi 8A is now official in India and as expected, it is the company's latest entry-level smartphone that's aimed at first-time smartphone users. It goes up against the likes of Realme C2, Samsung Galaxy M10, Nokia 2.2 and other phones that are placed in the same price range. However, Redmi is trying to differentiate its new handset by packing a 5000mAh battery that offers up to 18W fast charging, a display that is Gorilla Glass 5 protected and more. Here’s all you need to know about the new Redmi 8A.
The Redmi 8A comes equipped with a 6.22-inch HD display and sports a waterdrop notch display design. It features fine ridges on the rear panel that the company is calling “aura wave grip design” and this design apparently doesn’t attract fingerprints. The handset is powered by ṭhe Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, which is paired with 2GB and 3GB RAM options and 32GB of internal storage. It comes with a dedicated dual SIM and micro SD call slot and supports memory expansion of up to 512GB.
In terms of optics, the Redmi 8A sports a single camera setup on the back. It is equipped with a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor that is paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. The main camera supports dual PD autofocus, AI scene detection and is capable of capturing portrait images as well. On the front is an 8MP sensor that is housed in the waterdrop notch. While there’s no fingerprint sensor on the device, it supports AI face unlock.
The Redmi 8A sports a Type-C port and is backed by a 5000mAh battery that comes with 18W fast charging support. As per the company, the handset can be fully charged from 0 to 100 in just under three hours. It is also P2i splash-proof, gets a 3.5mm audio jack and supports wireless FM radio.
The Redmi 8A comes in two variants, one with 2GB RAM that is priced at Rs 6,499 and another with 3GB RAM that costs Rs 6,999. Both models of the device come with 32GB of internal storage. The smartphone will be available for purchase at 11:59 PM on September 29 via Flipkart as a part of the Big Billion Days Sale, and mi.com. The handset should also be made available offline soon via Mi Home, Mi Studio, Mi Stores and Mi Preferred Partners. The Redmi 8A comes in Midnight Black, Ocean Blue and Sunset Red colour variants.
