Realme recently introduced its Realme 5 series of handsets in India, which consists of the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro. Both handsets come equipped with a quad rear-camera setup and are new competitors in the mid-range smartphone section. While the handsets are going up for sale online, the company’s CEO Madhav Sheth has announced that the two phones will be made offline by mid-September. This means that those who are not keen on buying the phones right away, and online, can wait for the phones to hit offline shelves by next month. In the latest episode of Ask Madhav, the company executive has also answered some additional questions about the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro.
While the Camera 2 API is available out-of-the box for both Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro, Sheth says that and Bootloader unlock for the handsets will be made available in a month. This feature will help users flash custom firmware on their devices, perform root and install mods. However, the option is not for everyone since unlocking the bootloader can also lead to a bricked device. The screen on time option will also be made available for the smartphones via an OTA update in October. Additionally, the company announced the Realme Buds 2 during the launch of the Realme 5 phones, which are slated to be made available in the first week of September via Realme.com and soon via other online and offline retail outlets.
